Vitamin D Benefits For Men

Vitamin D Benefits For Men

The human body is complex. And in the midst of all the complexity, every piece plays a part in your health and well being. One of the most overlooked yet most important pieces of the puzzle is vitamin D.

Vitamin D isn’t a one-trick pony. It really is “all that and a bag of chips” as they say. Because vitamin D is involved in more than 1,000 different functions in the body. And I’d argue that no other vitamin supports your health like vitamin D.

I’ll even take it one step further. Vitamin D can save your life. And in today’s article I’m going to explain why that is.

And if you want to increase your vitamin D levels (I’m sure you will when you read this article) check out our vitamin D supplement Man D3. It’s a gelcap form of vitamin D which helps your body absorb it better so you get all the following life changing (and life saving) benefits:

Vitamin D Benefit #1: Heart Health

If you aren’t getting enough vitamin D, you’re at risk for cardiovascular disease. Period.

In fact, low levels of vitamin D are considered a “predictor” of heart attacks and stroke.

Researchers from Harvard found men with vitamin D deficiency have a 42% higher risk of dying by heart disease and up to a 64% greater chance of stroke.

Why?

Your heart muscle and circulatory system are loaded with vitamin D receptors, which shows how much your heart relies on vitamin D to function. Basically, vitamin D attaches to these receptors and works to promote heart health from the heart itself. Plus vitamin D helps…

… reduce triglycerides in the blood

… relax blood vessels to improve blood pressure and blood flow

… and improves cholesterol (study, study)

As we approach the fall and winter months, vitamin D levels tend to drop because we spend less time in the sun. So making sure you’re keeping your vitamin D levels high with something like Man D3 is crucial for your heart health during those seasons.

Vitamin D Benefit #2: Brain Health

Brain health is one of those things you take for granted until it starts to fade. And most of the time, when you start seeing symptoms of impairment, it’s too late. So if you want to keep your brain healthy then you need to stay on top of it NOW.

Research shows if you don’t have sufficient vitamin D levels, it dramatically increases your risk for cognitive decline, including Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Like the heart, your brain has a lot of vitamin D receptors. These are “rendezvous points” where vitamin D accumulates in the brain to support your health. And this is crucial because your brain RELIES on vitamin D to combat destructive processes that happen in the brain. Also…

Vitamin D helps grow new nerve cells and helps maintain “brain plasticity” which is vital for learning and memory… two aspects of your health you don’t want to lose as you get older. (study)

Don’t miss this…

As you get older, you’re only as capable as your brain allows you to be. If your brain isn’t functioning like it needs to, you’re done. You won’t be able to take care of yourself. You’ll likely end up in a nursing home or some kind of assisted living. And you’ll lose the precious memories you’ve made throughout your life.

It baffles me that guys who settle for that when the solution can be so simple

Vitamin D Benefit #3: Immune Health

No matter what’s going around, you want to be prepared. The best way to not give into the madness and fear-mongering of ANY virus strain is to keep your immune system healthy. Your immune system is “nature’s mask” — except it actually works.

Immune cells rely on vitamin D to regulate how they respond to threats in the body, first by attacking and destroying, followed by “cleaning up” and then getting back “on duty”... looking for foreign invaders to make their way in so they can eliminate them.

This is why research shows that low levels of vitamin D can accelerate autoimmune diseases like type I diabetes, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis…

So vitamin D is key to staying ahead of all the junk out there. In fact…

That’s why “flu season” tends to be in the winter. You spend less time outside, which means you get less sun. And because you get less sun, you get less vitamin D. And because you get less vitamin D, your immune system gets less support.

But if you can keep your vitamin D levels healthy, you can keep your immune system active to protect you from the flu and anything else floating around. One way to do that is by eating foods that are high in vitamin D like the ones I’ll give you later in this article.

An even easier way to keep your immune system healthy year round, and especially during flu season, is to take Man D3 once a day.

Vitamin D Benefit #4: Boosts Mood

Men’s mental health is starting to get more attention. Because the fact is, men have a lot of responsibilities that can weigh them down. But a lot of men try to struggle through it alone. But vitamin D can help give you support so you can maintain a positive outlook even in the most challenging circumstances.

It’s no surprise that the hardest season for men is in the winter. And there’s a strong connection with vitamin D there, too.

Sunlight contains vitamin D, so when you’re soaking in the sunshine, you’re literally absorbing vitamin D into your body — which boosts dopamine and serotonin production in the brain. Those hormones support a generally happy and positive mood. However…

During darker months of the year, less sunlight exposure causes a drop in vitamin D levels, which then turns into depression and mood disorders. In fact, the connection is so linear, that when people visit the doctor because of depressive symptoms, a new medical protocol is to check vitamin D levels to see if low vitamin D is the culprit causing depression.

The good news is vitamin D supplementation can help.

One study from the University of Toronto tested the effects of vitamin D supplementation on subjects during the months of December-February and found those who received vitamin D saw an improvement in their depressive symptoms.

This is one of the many reasons we released Man D3 last year. I mean this sensitively, but you’re no good to anyone if you’re dead. And too many men are getting depressed and taking their own lives. I don’t want you to go through that — and getting more vitamin D into your system is at least a way to give yourself some mood support.

Vitamin D Benefit #5: Testosterone

If you want to preserve as much muscle and bone density as possible, then you need to have healthy testosterone levels. And that’s another reason why vitamin D can save your life. Vitamin D levels in men are directly connected to testosterone levels.

A study from Oxford found that men with optimal vitamin D levels had significantly higher testosterone levels and lower SHBG count, than men who had lower vitamin D.

SHBG is a hormone that attaches to testosterone and basically makes it useless in the body. So the less SHBG you have, the better off you’ll be. So that’s the primary way vitamin D increases testosterone levels.

And another study found when healthy males supplement with vitamin D daily for an entire year, they had more than 25% higher testosterone levels than the placebo group.

So here’s the deal, man. Like we’ve seen with the other benefits, vitamin D can help ADD years to your life. But it won’t just add years to your life. It’ll add life to your years. And that’s because men with higher testosterone levels just flat-out get more out of life.

When you have higher testosterone levels, you have more energy, more drive, higher libido, you think more clearly, you build muscle easier, and so much more. So boosting testosterone with vitamin D is the icing on the cake for all the other great benefits this vitamin offers.

How To Boost Vitamin D

There are a few simple ways to boost vitamin D levels so you can be the healthy, happy, and powerful man you need to be.

  1. Get Sunlight

This is easiest to do in the warmer months of the year. But depending on where you live the “warmer” months could be 9 months out of the year or just 3 months out of the year. So naturally, where you live is going to have an impact on your vitamin D levels.

Here’s why sunlight is so important:

Your skin has a type of cholesterol that functions as a precursor to vitamin D. When this compound is exposed to sunlight, it becomes vitamin D. And this sunlight-derived vitamin D has been shown in studies to potentially circulate twice as long as vitamin D you’ll get from food or supplements.

  1. Eat Vitamin D Foods

When it comes to vitamin D-heavy foods, there isn’t a ton of variety. The top of the pack is fatty fish. We’re talking salmon, herring, sardines, and tuna (yes, canned tuna works). And that’s why going fishing is actually one of the best activities you can do for vitamin D levels. You spend time in the sun. And you eat your catch. Both of those will boost vitamin D.

Another food high in vitamin D is whole eggs. The vitamin D is in the egg yolk. So you need to eat the whole egg if you want more vitamin D. And even though it’s higher than most foods, one egg yolk only gives you 5% of the daily recommended value for vitamin D.

Finally — mushrooms are the next best food for vitamin D. Like humans, mushrooms synthesize vitamin D from the sun. Don’t like mushrooms? Try this instead

  1. Try Man D3

Vitamin D is so important that I don’t want to take any chances. I live in Canada. So I don’t get nearly as much sunlight in the colder months as my body needs. So I wanted to make sure I’m getting this crucial vitamin into my diet every single day — and the easiest way for me to do that is by supplementing with Man D3

Now, just picking up any vitamin D supplement won’t do. Because not all vitamin D supplements are created equally.

Liquid vitamin D seems to absorb better than the powder form of the supplement, which is why we use gel caps. If you take it in drop form, it’s harder to determine how much you’re actually consuming. And you don’t want to go overboard on how much vitamin D you get.

So that’s why we created Man D3 as a gelcap. It improves absorption and you know how much you’re getting.

So listen man…

Vitamin D is crucial to your health. Most guys are vitamin D deficient. And unless you’ve been paying attention, you might be too.

So give Man D3 a try, especially as we get closer to these “indoor” months where you won’t be outside as much.

If you don’t notice a difference you get your money back. That simple. So it’s no risk, all reward, and this is the one vitamin you can’t afford to miss out on.

However you decide to boost your vitamin D levels, just make sure you get it done.

Recap

  1. Most men are deficient in vitamin D and they don’t even know it. And it’s having an affect on your health, happiness, and ability to perform as a man.
  2. Vitamin D impacts heart health, brain health, your immune system, mood, and testosterone levels.
  3. To get more vitamin D, spend more time in the sun, eat fatty fish, eggs, and mushrooms, or take Man D3
  4. When taking a vitamin D supplement, you want it to know how much vitamin D you’re getting so that you don’t take too much, and you want it to be easily absorbable. Man D3 checks both those boxes.

Be Legendary,

Chad Howse
