7 Ways to Lower Estrogen Naturally

Estrogen is a feminine hormone that’s in charge of sexual development in women. Men also have estrogen — which is necessary for healthy sexual development, too. So just having a little bit of estrogen in your body is actually pretty healthy. However, that’s not the reality for most men. Nowadays, men wrestle with having excessive estrogen.

When that happens, you’ll have health issues that can affect your life in a negative way. Here are some of the problems related to high levels of estrogens:

  1. High levels of estrogen can decrease your testosterone levels (study, study)
  2. Estrogens produce feminine characteristics in men (study)
  3. Estrogens are very closely related to metabolic rate drop (study)
  4. High levels of estrogen causes more body fat storage — which causes more estrogen (study, study)

For these reasons, it’s important that you keep your body free from high estrogen levels. And in this article, I’m going to show you exactly how to do that.

1. Lose body fat

There is a simple equation for this…

If you have too much body fat (more than 20%) you’ll activate aromatase enzyme activity — which increases estrogen and throws testosterone out of whack, because aromatase is a process where the body converts your hard-earned testosterone into estrogen. But this isn’t the only thing that happens when you have a lot of body fat. Your most potent male hormone (dihydrotestosterone) becomes less active. In other words, belly fat is robbing you of this important, high-powered form of testosterone that would take your T-count to a new level.

On a side note, when you gain excess body fat, you enter into a frustrating cycle that will leave you in a black hole of belly fat, because the more body fat you have, the more estrogen you’ll have — and the more estrogen you have, the more weight you’ll gain.

2. Check Your Personal Care Items

Your personal care routine might not be a safe place for your testosterone. Why? Because most personal care items, like deodorant, shaving cream, body wash, and more, contain estrogenic chemicals called xenoestrogens.

Xenoestrogens have a very similar structure to regular estrogens. Because of this, they stimulate estrogen receptors, which is the binding site where estrogen attaches and enters your DNA. As a result, the more estrogen receptors you have, the more likely estrogens will connect with them and shift your DNA.

Parabens are the most common environmental estrogens in personal care products. So to avoid them, check the ingredient list of each product in your bathroom so you can avoid the ones that have testosterone-lowering properties. Some of these elements are butyl-, methyl-, ethyl-, heptyl- and propyl.

3. Eat Cruciferous Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables are an excellent way to lower your estrogen levels. The reason is because leafy green vegetables contain compounds called DIM (3’3 diindolylmethane) and IC3 (Indole-3-Carbinol), which are components that can decrease the estrogen in your body.

A study done by Stony Brook University showed that cruciferous vegetables are so effective at reducing estrogen levels that subjects used them in breast cancer patients to reduce estrogen levels, and as a result, contain and shrink the cancer.

Important Note: The problem with cruciferous vegetables is their fiber. Too much fiber has been linked to lowered testosterone levels. What you ideally want to do is to have your IC-3 (you can consume as much IC-3 as you want with no side effects, too much DIM can hurt your hormones) without the fiber. To get your full, daily amount of IC-3 to block estrogen, check out Man Boost.

4. Drink Red Wine

That’s right — you can enjoy a nice fine-dining experience with your partner and still take care of your important androgen hormones. Grapes have beneficial compounds for lowering estrogen levels. These components are called polyphenols and resveratrol and are known to be potent testosterone boosters as well.

And remember, I mentioned earlier that the aromatase enzyme converts your testosterone into estrogen when you have a lot of body fat. Well, drinking red wine will protect your testosterone from that frustrating process and keep it from turning into estrogen.

According to a study done by the Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope, grape seeds have an anti-estrogenic compound called proanthocyanidin. This component can significantly lower estrogen in your body as well.

Important Note: red wine has very little resveratrol in it, so little, actually, that it won't have an effect. To supplement with typical forms of resveratrol you need as much as 5 grams a day, as it isn't absorbed by the body very well. That is, all forms except Resveratrol Vesisorb, which is absorbed 100x better than normal resveratrol. We've included 200mg (your full daily amount) of Resveratrol Vesisorb in Man Boost (learn more here).

5. Prioritize Liver Health

It’s ok to have a cup of wine once in a while. But stay responsible for the sake of your liver health.

The liver is in charge of excreting toxins and estrogen. If your liver isn’t healthy, estrogen is retained there. As a result, you’ll store and increase estrogen levels over time. So, managing your healthy liver is one of the most important things to keep your estrogen levels low.

There are two factors that are beneficial for your liver; reducing the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) intake and having the nutrient choline, which not only helps you improve your circulatory system but it’s also necessary for fat segregation from the liver. When you have a high intake of fatty acids, it reduces choline’s effectiveness, by preventing the segregation. According to this study, low fatty acid intake will significantly increase your liver’s health. And this, consequently, will lower your estrogen levels.

6. Limit Use Of Plastics

You might be thinking that I’m going too far with this, but believe me, it’s important.

According to this study from Kaiser Foundation Research Institute, using plastic is highly related to estrogen increase in men. Most of the compounds in plastic have xenoestrogens (environmental estrogens), which are hormones very similar to regular estrogens. These xenoestrogens seep into your skin, attach to estrogen receptors and feminize your DNA.

It’s very similar to what happens with personal care items. Limit use of plastic water bottles, dishware, razors and more to protect your testosterone and prevent estrogen from taking over in the body.

7. Take Man Boost
